SEARCY, Ark. — Following a dominant stretch in conference play, the Harding Lady Bisons moved closer to their early-season peak on Tuesday, climbing four spots to No. 11 in the WBCA NCAA Division II Coaches' Poll.
Harding (16-3) jumped from No. 15 after securing a gritty 63-58 road win over Southwestern Oklahoma State this past weekend. While the No. 11 spot marks a significant mid-season surge, the Lady Bisons are no strangers to the upper echelon of the rankings; the program reached as high as No. 7 nationally earlier this season before a brief slide in January.
The Lady Bisons (316 points) now sit just four points behind No. 10 Nova Southeastern and four points ahead of No. 12 Central Washington. The movement within the poll was triggered by a chaotic week for the former top 10, including losses by previous No. 4 Nova Southeastern and No. 5 Fort Hays State.
At the top of the ballot, Grand Valley State (20-0) remains the unanimous No. 1 with all 23 first-place votes. Minnesota State Mankato (22-0) and Texas Woman's (18-1) held steady at No. 2 and No. 3.
Harding currently sits in a dead heat for the Great American Conference lead with Arkansas Tech, who is the second team listed in the "others receiving votes" category this week. The two rivals are on a collision course for a high-stakes matchup later this month.
The Lady Bisons return to Rhodes-Reaves Field House on Thursday to open a four-game home stand against Oklahoma Baptist.
