No. 11 Harding Blows Past Oklahoma Baptist, 69-40

SEARCY, Ark. — The No. 11 Harding Lady Bisons put on a defensive clinic Thursday night at the Rhodes-Reaves Field House, rolling past Oklahoma Baptist 69-40 to extend their winning streak to three games.

Harding (17-3, 11-3 Great American Conference) held Oklahoma Baptist (10-10, 6-8) to just 25.0 percent shooting for the game. Getman, who entered averaging 21.6 points per game, was limited to just four points on 1-of-3 shooting while playing with a cast on her right wrist.

The defensive intensity was evident from the opening tip. After Oklahoma Baptist scored the first basket, Harding responded with a 12-0 run over a five-minute stretch, forcing OKBU into eight consecutive missed shots. The Lady Bisons led 17-6 after one quarter and suffocated the visitors in the second period, holding them to just 2-of-12 shooting.

Harding took a commanding 37-13 lead into halftime, marking the fewest points allowed in a first half by the Lady Bisons against a GAC opponent since 2019.

Offensively, Josie Williams led the way with 14 points, five rebounds, and three assists. Amelia Rogers provided a spark off the bench with a career-high 13 points, including two 3-pointers. Myiah Butler nearly notched a double-double, finishing with nine points and nine rebounds in 19 minutes of action.

Harding's efficiency was on display at the free-throw line, where they finished 17-of-21 (81.0 percent). The Lady Bisons also controlled the glass, outrebounding Oklahoma Baptist 44-33, and held a 33-18 advantage in bench points.

The victory improves Harding's all-time record against Oklahoma Baptist to 20-3, including a perfect 11-0 mark in Searcy. The Lady Bisons have now won 15 straight games in the series.

With the win, Harding keeps pace at the top of the GAC standings, remaining tied for first place with Arkansas Tech, which defeated Southern Nazarene on Thursday.

Harding continues its four-game home stand on Saturday when they host Southern Nazarene. Tip-off is scheduled for 1 p.m.
