SEARCY, Ark. – In front of a near-capacity crowd of 1,925, the Harding men's basketball team delivered one of its most complete performances of the season, upsetting No. 20-ranked Ouachita Baptist 79-69 on Monday night. The victory snapped the Tigers' seven-game winning streak and improved the Bisons' dominant home record to 12-1.
How It Happened
The atmosphere at Rhodes-Reaves Field House was electric from the jump, and the Bisons (15-7, 11-5 GAC) fed off the energy early. After the Tigers (18-4, 14-2 GAC) took a brief 8-7 lead—their only lead of the game—Harding responded with a devastating 15-0 run. During that stretch, the Bisons held Ouachita scoreless for nearly nine minutes, forcing seven consecutive missed shots.
A four-point play by Keyln McBride with 2:00 remaining in the half pushed the lead to 18. The highlight of the night came at the first-half buzzer when McBride dropped in a wild, contested, 15-foot, one-handed, underhanded scoop shot to send the Bisons into the locker room with a 39-20 advantage, nearly blowing the roof off the Field House.
Harding didn't let up to start the second half, building their largest lead of the game (21 points) on a Thompson Camara three-pointer with 17:36 remaining. Ouachita Baptist, which entered the game with the nation's No. 3 scoring defense, attempted several rallies, cutting the lead to 10 with 8:15 left. However, sophomore Ty Suess silenced the comeback with a clutch corner three-pointer to push the margin back to double digits.
Marco Rangan provided the final dagger with a putback layup at the 4:15 mark to make it 71-55. While the Tigers managed to pull within nine in the final minute, Harding's efficiency at the free-throw line (26-of-31) sealed the upset.
