EDMOND, Okla. – Facing its second top-30 opponent in as many days, the No. 31-ranked Harding men's tennis team fell 4-0 to No. 16 Washburn on Saturday morning at the Edmond Center Court.

The Bisons (8-4) struggled to find momentum against the Ichabods, who swept the doubles point and took the first three completed singles matches to clinch the dual.

Doubles play was a tightly contested affair across all three courts. Harding's duo of Florian Gayme and Jan Alexander Has provided a spark at the No. 2 spot, earning a 6-3 victory over Tommaso Cecchetti and Pavlos Parson. However, Washburn responded with a 6-3 win at No. 3 to level the field.

The doubles point came down to a tiebreaker at the top flight. Harding's No. 3-ranked pair of Adrian Solorzano and Cian Mikkelsen battled point-for-point with Benjamin Fock and Zinovii Nahirniak, but the Ichabods eventually prevailed 7-6 (7-5) to take the 1-0 lead.

In singles, Washburn's depth proved to be the difference. The Ichabods picked up efficient straight-set wins at the bottom of the lineup to race toward the finish line. Benjamin Fock defeated Edoardo D'Arrigo 6-2, 6-1 at No. 6, followed by Tommaso Cecchetti's 6-2, 6-2 win over Jan Alexander Has at No. 3.

The match was clinched at the No. 5 position, where Yuto Miyagawa defeated Florian Gayme 6-3, 6-2.

At the time of the clinch, Harding was leading in one of the three unfinished matches. At No. 2, Sebastian De Las Salas held a 6-4 lead in the first set. Adrian Solorzano was trailing 6-2 at No. 1, and Cian Mikkelsen was down 6-3 at No. 4.

The Bisons will look to bounce back as they return to Searcy to resume MIAA/GAC play next Saturday against Northeastern State. First serve at the Elliott Tennis Complex is at 1 p.m.
