Six-Run Third Ignites HU Baseball Victory over Southeastern

SEARCY, Ark. – Senior Logan Lacey moved within one hit of the school's all-time record and Nathan Bowie drove in a career-high four runs as Harding baseball opened its Great American Conference series with a 9-5 victory over Southeastern Oklahoma State on Friday night at Jerry Moore Field.

The win moves Harding (15-10, 10-6 GAC) into a dead heat with the Savage Storm (17-10, 10-6 GAC) for fourth place in the conference standings as the race for the postseason intensifies.

THIRD INNING EXPLOSION

Despite falling behind early, the Bisons relied on their most productive frame of the season to take control. Trailing 1-0 in the third, Harding erupted for six runs. The Bisons have now outscored opponents 44-20 in the third inning this season—the most runs scored by the team in any single inning.

Nathan Bowie provided the highlight of the rally. His three-run home run to right field capped the six-run outburst and gave starter Kyle Lane a cushion he would not relinquish.

LANE DOMINATES POWERFUL LINEUP

Kyle Lane (3-0) turned in one of the most efficient outings of his career to earn the win. Facing the nation's leading home run-hitting team, Lane neutralized the Savage Storm's power by keeping the ball in the park.

In a 7.0-inning performance that tied his career long, Lane recorded 16 of his 21 outs via ground balls or strikeouts. It marked the sixth time in seven starts this season that Lane has completed at least six innings of work.

CHASING HISTORY

Logan Lacey turned in his first three-hit game of the season and his sixth career game with two doubles. The performance put him on the doorstep of two major school records:

  • Hits: Lacey now has 225 career hits, leaving him just one shy of the school record (226) held by Connor Kelly (2017-21).

  • Runs: With two runs scored Friday, Lacey has 166 in his career, six short of Chase Presley's record of 172 (2009-12).

  • On-Base Streak: Lacey has now reached base safely in 25 straight games.

STREAKS AND STATS

  • Resilience: Harding improved to 9-3 this season in games where the opponent scores first.

  • Lockdown: The Bisons moved to 15-1 when leading after six innings.

  • Hitting Streaks: Easton Jones extended his hitting streak to 12 games, the longest by a Bison this season. Dom Davis (11 straight) and Phoenix West (10 straight) also maintained their double-digit streaks.

  • Dealin': Despite four errors, the Bisons' staff limited the Savage Storm to only three earned runs.
