No. 41 Harding Bounces Back with Dominant Road Win at Delta State

CLEVELAND, Miss. – The No. 41-ranked Harding men's tennis team snapped a two-match skid in emphatic fashion Friday afternoon, defeating Delta State 4-1 at the Cleveland Country Club to conclude their spring break road trip.

The Bisons (10-6) relied on a quick start in doubles and a pair of dominant straight-set performances at the top and bottom of the singles lineup to secure the non-conference victory.

Doubles Sweep

Harding wasted no time establishing control, sweeping the completed doubles matches to earn the first point of the day. The No. 3-ranked duo of Adrian Solorzano and Cian Mikkelsen returned to their winning ways at the No. 1 position, cruising to a 6-2 victory over Valentin Greco and Valentino Millimaci.

At the No. 2 spot, the tandem of Florian Gayme and Jan Alexander Has remained perfect on the week, dispatching Simon Ojeda and Alejandro Bravo Diaz 6-1. With the point already clinched, the No. 3 doubles match featuring Sebastian De Las Salas and Edoardo D'Arrigo was abandoned.

Singles Dominance

Harding's veterans ensured there would be no comeback for the Statesmen. Adrian Solorzano capped off an undefeated week in singles play with a flawless 6-0, 6-1 victory over Marti Cerda Castillo at the No. 1 flight. Solorzano's victory set the tone for the afternoon and extended his personal winning streak to four matches.

Freshman Jan Alexander Has provided the third point for the Bisons at No. 5 singles, defeating Simon Ojeda 6-1, 6-4. The match was eventually clinched by Sebastian De Las Salas at the No. 2 position. After dropping the first set 6-2, De Las Salas showed remarkable resilience, winning back-to-back tiebreakers (7-5, 7-3) to secure the team win.

Delta State's lone point came at No. 3 singles, where Juan Alzate outlasted Cian Mikkelsen in three sets. Matches at No. 4 and No. 6 were abandoned once the Bisons reached the four points necessary for the dual victory.

By the Numbers

With the win, Harding improves to 10-6 overall and moves to 5-3 on the road this season. The Bisons have now won seven of their last ten matches dating back to late February.
