MAGNOLIA, Ark. – The No. 41-ranked Harding men's tennis team moved one step closer to a divisional title Tuesday, defeating No. 50 Southern Arkansas 5-2 at the Live Oak Tennis Courts.
With the victory, the Bisons (13-6, 4-0 GAC/MIAA) extend their winning streak to four matches and remain atop the South Division standings.
Doubles Dominance
Harding set the tone early by sweeping all three doubles matches to secure the opening point. The pairing of Florian Gayme and Jan Alexander Has provided the first spark, upsetting the No. 7-ranked duo of Jonas Sommer and Uwe Diehl with a 6-3 win at the No. 2 spot.
Sebastian De Las Salas and Edoardo D'Arrigo clinched the point at No. 3 with a 6-4 victory, while the No. 3-ranked tandem of Adrian Solorzano and Cian Mikkelsen completed the sweep by outlasting Frode Neumann and Lucas Nitzschke in a 7-6 (7-5) tiebreaker.
Singles Grit
The Bisons secured the team win by taking four of the six singles flights. Cian Mikkelsen was first off the court at No. 3 with a straight-set win, followed by No. 69 Adrian Solorzano, who battled through a tough second set to win 6-1, 7-5 at the top flight.
Sebastian De Las Salas provided the match-clinching fourth point at No. 2, rallying from a set down to defeat Lucas Nitzschke 4-6, 6-2, 7-5. Freshman Jan Alexander Has added insurance with a 6-4, 6-2 victory at the No. 6 position.
Southern Arkansas (10-9, 2-2) picked up points at No. 4 and No. 5, where Jonas Sommer outlasted Harding's Caleb Folse in a marathon 11-9 third-set tiebreaker.
Record Watch
With his doubles victory today, senior Cian Mikkelsen moved into sole possession of 4th place on Harding's all-time career doubles wins list with 66. He also currently holds the 9th-best career doubles winning percentage in program history at .725.

The Bisons will conclude the regular season next Tuesday, April 21, with a high-stakes road match against Ouachita Baptist in Arkadelphia. The dual is expected to determine the regular-season champion for the GAC/MIAA South Division.
