HU Men's Tennis Downs Ouachita Baptist 6-1 to Clinch MIAA/GAC South Division Championship

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The No. 45 Harding men's tennis team secured the MIAA/GAC South Division championship Tuesday, delivering a convincing 6-1 victory over No. 33 Ouachita Baptist at the Heflin Courts.

With the win, the Bisons (14-6, 5-0 MIAA/GAC) remain perfect in conference play and secure the No. 1 seed from the South Division in the upcoming MIAA/GAC Men's Tennis Championship. Harding will face the No. 4 seed from the North Division in the opening round on Wednesday, April 29.

Doubles Point Proves Pivotal

Harding asserted control early, capturing the crucial doubles point by winning two of three matches. After falling at the No. 1 flight, the Bisons rallied as the No. 49-ranked duo of Florian Gayme and Jan Alexander Has defeated their No. 23-ranked counterparts 6-3.

The No. 43-ranked pairing of Edoardo D'Arrigo and Sebastian De Las Salas then clinched the point with a hard-fought 6-4 victory at the No. 3 position, giving Harding a 1-0 advantage entering singles play.

Singles Dominance

The Bisons' momentum carried into the singles portion of the dual, where they claimed five of the six courts.

Senior Adrian Solorzano, ranked No. 75 nationally, led the charge at the top flight, dispatching No. 47-ranked Ramon Strassmann 6-3, 6-4. Sebastian De Las Salas continued his strong form at No. 2, defeating Yarin Aebi 6-3 before Aebi was forced to retire due to injury.

Cian Mikkelsen picked up a clinical 6-2, 6-4 win at the No. 3 spot, and Caleb Folse added another point for the Bisons with a 6-4, 6-3 victory at No. 5. Jan Alexander Has capped off the day with a gritty comeback at No. 6, dropping the second set before securing the third-set victory, 6-2, 3-6, 6-4.
