TULSA, Okla. — Senior Madeleine Wilson carded a 5-over 76 to lead a steady second-day effort for the Harding Lady Bisons, who climbed one spot into seventh place Tuesday at the Great American Conference Women's Golf Championships.
Harding posted a team score of 312 (+28) in the second round at the Stone Creek course at Page Belcher Golf Club. With a two-day total of 628 (+60), the Lady Bisons moved past Southern Arkansas and sit just seven strokes back of a tie for fifth place heading into Wednesday's final round.
Wilson, an All-GAC Honorable Mention selection, showed the grit that has defined her senior season. After an opening-round 79, she shaved three strokes off her score on Tuesday, highlighted by an even-par 36 on the back nine. Wilson moved up eight spots on the individual leaderboard and is currently tied for 16th at 13-over par.
Freshman Vivian Volion joins Wilson in the tie for 16th. Volion followed her opening 77 with a 7-over 78, anchored by a clean 1-over par stretch across the final nine holes.
No. 31-ranked Arkansas Tech continues to distance itself from the field, leading the tournament at 26-over par. Southwestern Oklahoma State sits in second (+42), followed by Henderson State (+48).
Harding's veteran duo of Sydney Kincade and Pilar Martinez both turned in rounds of 8-over 79 on Tuesday. The pair of All-GAC Second Team selections are tied for 30th individually with totals of 17-over 159. Cooper Meyer rounded out the Harding scorecard with an 83 and is currently in 37th place.
The Lady Bisons will look to close the gap on Arkansas-Monticello and Northwestern Oklahoma State, who are currently tied for fifth at 53-over par.
The final round begins Wednesday morning in Tulsa.
