MONKEY ISLAND, Okla. — Senior Madeleine Wilson delivered the best round of her career Tuesday to lead the Harding Lady Bisons to a ninth-place finish at the Spring Region Preview, hosted by Central Missouri at Shangri-La Country Club.
Wilson fired a 1-under-par 71 in the final round, marking the second under-par round for the Lady Bisons this season. The performance vaulted Wilson into fourth place individually with a 54-hole total of 3-over 219. It marks her second top-five finish of the season and the third of her career.
As a team, Harding posted a final-round 303 to finish the tournament at 51-over 915. No. 32-ranked Arkansas Tech claimed the team title with an 18-over 882, finishing 10 strokes ahead of Central Oklahoma and Southwestern Oklahoma State, who tied for second.
Wilson's historic Tuesday featured a 2-under 34 on the back nine, including three birdies. Her career-best 71 follows back-to-back rounds of 74 on Sunday and Monday.
Junior Sydney Kincade, who entered the day in the top five after a record-tying 71 on Monday, carded an 8-over 80 in the final round. Kincade finished in 17th place with an 8-over 224, securing her second consecutive top-20 finish.
Pilar Martinez continued her steady play after a difficult opening round, carding a 2-over 74 on Tuesday. Martinez moved up the leaderboard to finish in 31st place at 13-over 229. Vivian Volion tied for 70th at 28-over 244, while Macy Cooper finished 77th at 31-over 247.
The Lady Bisons finished the 17-team tournament ahead of several regional rivals, including Missouri Western, Southern Arkansas, and Arkansas-Monticello.
Harding now turns its attention to the postseason. The Lady Bisons will compete in the Great American Conference Tournament on April 13-15 at Stone Creek at Page Belcher Golf Course in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
