SEARCY, Ark. – Senior Karli Roux celebrated Senior Day by moving further up the program's all-time wins list, though the Harding women's tennis team fell 6-1 to Southeastern Oklahoma State on Thursday at the Elliott Tennis Complex.
Roux, the lone senior honored after the match, provided the highlight for the Lady Bisons (3-12, 0-2 GAC) at No. 1 singles. Ranked No. 26 in the nation, Roux defeated Milana Voloshyn 6-1, 2-6, 6-2.
The victory was the 67th career singles win for Roux, moving her into a tie with Piper Huey (2013-17) for ninth place in Harding history.
Southeastern Oklahoma (8-7, 2-0 GAC) secured the team victory early, clinching the match just over two hours into play. The Savage Storm swept the doubles point, highlighted by a 6-4 win at the top flight by the No. 40-ranked pair of Voloshyn and Emilia O'Neill over Harding's No. 6-ranked duo of Roux and Brooke Coffman.
In singles, the Savage Storm won five of the six matches. After taking the first three finished singles points at No. 6, No. 2, and No. 3, Sophia Brooks-Gay clinched the dual at the No. 4 position with a 6-1, 4-6, 7-5 victory over Sofia Sarmiento Ruiz.
Harding battled in the remaining matches, as Coffman narrowly fell 7-6, 7-5 at the No. 5 spot, while Mia Hosking was forced to retire due to injury at No. 6.
The Lady Bisons continue Great American Conference play on Saturday, April 11, as they travel to Arkadelphia, Arkansas, to take on Ouachita Baptist at 2 p.m.
