HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — The Harding volleyball team bounced back in dominant fashion Friday at the UAH Invitational, sweeping both Trevecca Nazarene University and Auburn University at Montgomery in straight sets at the SportsMED Arena in Spragins Hall.
After dropping their tournament opener on Thursday, the Lady Bisons displayed total control, improving to 6-1 on the season with pair of 3-0 victories.
Game 1: Harding 3, Trevecca Nazarene 0
(25-13, 25-18, 25-21)
Harding set the tone early in the afternoon matchup, using a stifling defensive effort to force Trevecca Nazarene (1-3) into a negative hit percentage (-.154) in the opening frame. The Lady Bisons rolled through the first set, 25-15, behind sharp play at the net and consistent setting from junior Olivia Wiedower.
Wiedower directed the Lady Bisons' offense with 29 assists and anchored the backline defense with a match-high 11 digs to notch a double-double.
Outside hitter Melaina Haines led the attack with a game-high 11 kills while hitting .360. Ella Drake and Philomina Klotz provided supplemental power on the wings, chipping in eight kills apiece.
Harding hit .258 as a team with 40 kills and just seven attack errors across the three sets. Rauly Eason spearheaded the net defense, posting three blocks to help limit the Trojans to 29 total kills and a .039 overall attack percentage.
Game 2: Harding 3, Auburn Montgomery 0
(25-10, 25-12, 25-16)
In the nightcap, Harding delivered an even more commanding performance, dismantling Auburn Montgomery (Ala.) in just under an hour and 15 minutes.
The Lady Bisons recorded a sizzling .376 hitting percentage—committing only seven attack errors on 101 total attempts—while holding AUM to a .130 clip.
Josie Bishop led all players with 12 kills while hitting at an efficient mark on the outside. Drake followed closely behind with 10 kills and two service aces, and hit .714.
Wiedower recorded 30 assists to direct the relentless attack, while Mallory Weyand stabilized the defense with a match-high 12 digs. Harding out-killed the Warhawks 45-23 and held a 6-0 advantage in service aces.
