Lee Edwards

AT HARDING
Lee Edwards is in his eighth season as an assistant football coach for the Bisons in 2015 and his third as a volunteer, coaching slotbacks. Edwards began work as a professor in the Bible department at Harding beginning in the fall of 2013.

Edwards has worked as an offensive position coach at Harding since 2009, and was the offensive coordinator from 2010-12. In five of those six seasons, Harding has finished in the top five in rushing offense. The Bisons led the nation in rushing offense in 2011.

Harding’s slotbacks have received three All-Great American Conference citations in the last two years.

Edwards has coached in three Harding postseason games, the 2012 and 2014 NCAA Division II Playoffs and the 2013 Live United Texarkana Bowl.

PRIOR TO HARDING
Prior to arriving at Harding, Edwards spent three seasons as the head coach at Murray (Ky.) High School, leading the Tigers to three consecutive playoff appearances. Before taking the head coaching job, Edwards spent the 2004 season as an assistant in charge of linebackers and quarterbacks.

From 1997-2003, Edwards was an assistant at David Lipscomb High School in Nashville, Tenn. He was the defensive coordinator for his final five seasons. During his time at David Lipscomb, the team went to three state championship games and won the title in 2002.

Edwards was also an assistant coach at Ezell-Harding Christian School in Antioch, Tenn., in 1996-97.

PLAYING CAREER
He was a four-year letterwinner at Harding and a two-year starter at linebacker and defensive end, earning honorable mention All-Arkansas Intercollegiate Conference in 1994.

Edwards was a two-year starter at safety and outside linebacker at Marshall County High School in Benton, Ky.

EDUCATION
Edwards graduated from Harding in 1995 with a bachelor’s degree in social science and earned his master’s degree from Lipscomb in 2000.

FAMILY
Edwards and his wife Jenny have three children--Jackson, Lillian and Lucy.
