SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Despite a late run, the Harding men's basketball team fell to Incarnate Word 82-71 Friday night in San Antonio, Texas. The Bisons fall to 4-2 on the season.
With 2:56 left to play in the game, the Bisons began to pull together a ten point rally as Bradley Spencer hit a jumper and Matt Garner and Sam Brown each hit a three-pointer to cut the deficit to seven. Stephen Blake hit a lay-up with 1:32 left to cut the Incarnate Word lead to five points but the Bisons didn't get any closer. The Cardinals then went on an 8-0 run to close out the game and take a 13 point lead in the remaining seconds.
Blake led the Bisons with 12 points, hitting 5-of-6 free throws. Junior forward Kevin Brown added 10 points and grabbed five rebounds for the Bisons.
Incarnate Word had five players in double-figure scoring; leading the way was Pierce Caldwell who had 25 points, hitting 7-of-13 from the field. Tracy Robinson captured a double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds.
The Cardinals shot 46.3 percent from the field, hitting 25-of-54 shots. Incarnate Word also hit 4-of-9 three-pointers in the game.
Incarnate Word capitalized on Harding's 16 turnovers with 27 points, 20 points were in the second half.
Harding trailed 34-33 at halftime.
The Bisons will be back in action Sunday traveling to Austin, Texas to take on St. Edward's at 3:30 p.m.
