SEARCY – The Harding women's soccer team opens the 2009 season at home Friday hosting Division I opponent Arkansas-Pine Bluff at 7 p.m., at the Harding soccer field. It will be the first meeting between the two teams.
Arkansas-Pine Bluff finished the 2008 season with a 7-9-1 overall record and a 3-1 record in the Southwestern Athletic Conference. The Lady Lions return two of their top goal scorers. Sophomore Jade West led the Lady Lions with 17 goals and 13 assists. Sophomore Nicole Parks-Powell was second on the team, finding the back of the net 16 times.
The Lady Bisons accumulated a 7-9-1 overall record last season and a 2-5-1 Gulf South Conference record. Harding was led by sophomore forward Chelsea Brandon who tied a Harding single season high of 17 goals.
