SEARCY – The Harding women's soccer team picked up its first win of the season in pouring rain Tuesday night against Northeastern State, 2-1. The win moves Harding to 1-3-1 on the season.

The Lady Bisons didn't wait long to get on the scoreboard. Junior Brianna Meek picked up her first goal of the season on a shot from 10 yards out on a through ball by senior Minnie Guzman in the 14th minute. Harding's leading goal scorer Tabitha McReynolds headed the ball in the back of the net off a Kellie DeAtley corner kick that proved to be the game winner in the 25th minute. The last time Harding scored on a corner kick was last season against Lyon College.

Northeastern State got on the board in the 70th minute when Rachel Sordahl stole the ball from the Lady Bisons defense and found the back of the net.

The Lady Bisons defense would hold up the rest of the way. Harding goalkeeper Hannah Douglas had seven saves on the night tying a career high.

Harding had a season high 11 shots on goal in the match.

The Lady Bisons will be back in action Friday traveling to Columbus, Ga., facing Columbus State at 8 p.m.
