SEARCY – The Harding women's soccer team dropped 3-0 decision to visiting Alabama-Huntsville on Friday to open Gulf South Conference play. Harding falls to 1-6-1 on the season and 0-1 in the GSC.
Alabama-Huntsville didn't take long to get on the board as Devin Newman dribbled through the Lady Bisons defense and a hit a strike from six yards out for the first Lady Charger goal. UAH took the 1-0 lead into halftime.
Ten minutes into the second half, Lindsay Lee kicked a cross from the left side to Cady Reisman for the second Alabama-Huntsville goal. The Lady Chargers sealed the game on a breakaway steal from the Harding defense by Courtney Mayers who put the ball in the back of the net from 12 yards out.
Alabama-Huntsville outshot Harding 16-11, 8 of which were on goal. The Lady Chargers committed 18 fouls in the contest to Harding's eight.
The Lady Bisons will travel to Jackson, Tenn., on Oct. 2 to face Lambuth who will be joining the GSC next year. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
