SEARCY – The Harding women's soccer team dropped a 4-2 decision Monday night to visiting Palm Beach Atlantic. The Lady Bisons fall to 0-2-1 on the season.
Harding jumped out scoring their first goal of the season in the seventh minute on a shot from 35 yards out by freshman midfielder Tabitha McReynolds. It was the first career goal. The Sailfish quickly tied the game 37 seconds later on a cross by Angie Kuhn to Juliet Waller for the header. Waller wasn't done scoring 11 minutes later on a left foot shot from 20 yards out. PBA took a 2-1 lead into halftime.
In the 52nd minute, McReynolds fought for possession in the PBA goal box and put the ball in the back of the net to tie the game 2-2. In the 70th minute, the Sailfish took the lead when Jennie Weil stole the ball from the Lady Bisons defense and put it in the top right corner of the net.
Harding had a chance to tie the game in the 77th when Kellie DeAtley had a breakaway up the left-hand side of the field. DeAtley struck the ball to the top left corner but PBA goalkeeper Kayla Webb made a diving save.
The Sailfish sealed the game with seven seconds remaining when Michele Kappes received a cross from Kuhn for the goal.
PBA goalkeeper Webb had seven saves on the night. The Sailfish outshot the Lady Bisons 11-9.
Harding will be back in action Thursday hosting Texas A&M-Commerce at 4 p.m.
