SEARCY – The Harding women's soccer team scored in the first seven minutes and didn't look back as they defeated Lambuth on Friday night, 3-1. The Lady Bisons move to 4-5-1 on the season.
In the seventh minute, senior defender Hayley Withrow hit a long pass down the left side of the field which allowed junior forward Paola Eusse to chase it down. Eusse faked the Lady Eagles goalkeeper and tapped the ball into the lower left side of the net to give the Lady Bisons a 1-0 lead.
The Lady Bisons had another scoring opportunity three minutes later when freshman forward Adriana Lucar power dribbled down the right side, past the defense and beat the Lambuth goalkeeper but she was fouled just outside the box.
In the 28th minute Withrow had three defenders collapse on her but she was able to find a whole and found senior forward Meghan Przeczewski for a tap in goal.
Three minutes later, Lambuth committed a foul in the side the box which allowed the Lady Bisons a penalty kick. Lucar stepped up the ball and faked out the goalkeeper to find the right side of the net to put Harding on top 3-0.
Harding took the 3-0 lead into halftime.
Lambuth (3-4-0) kept pressing the Harding defense until a miscue allowed Amy Pulliam to steal the ball. Pulliam found Malissa Gallogly to keep Harding from the shutout.
Harding took 25 shots, 13 were on goal. Lucar led Harding with eight shots, seven were on goal.
Lambuth's goalkeeper Rahcel Harlass had a game-high 10 saves.
The Lady Bisons will continue Gulf South Conference play Sunday as they host No. 20 West Florida at 1 p.m.
