Lady Bison Basketball Opens at Home against Central Baptist

Harding holds an 8-0 advantage all-time against Central Baptist

Bailey St. Clair is one of three Harding starters returning for the 2010-11 season.

SEARCY – The Harding women's basketball team opens the 2010-11 season Monday at the Rhodes Field House, as it hosts Central Baptist at 5:30 p.m. The game tips off the 28th season of women's basketball at Harding.

10 THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW

1.     Harding is coached by Tim Kirby, who is in his sixth season as head coach of the Lady Bisons. Kirby has an 86-57 record in his first five seasons. David Walker is in his first season as Harding's assistant women's basketball coach.

2.     Harding returns three starters and seven letter-winners off last season's team that finished 17-12 overall and 8-6 and in third place in the Gulf South Conference West Division.

3.     Harding's returning starters include senior Danielle Reiher (5.3 ppg, 2.5 rpg), senior Bailey St. Clair (13.8 ppg, 5.9 rpg), and junior Sierra Rollins (9.8 ppg, 5.6 rpg).

4.     Harding was picked to finish fourth of eight teams in the GSC West Division Preseason Poll. The top four teams in each division advance to the GSC Tournament in Southaven, Miss., in March.

5.     Central Baptist is an independent member of the NAIA and National Christian College Athletic Association. The Lady Mustangs enter the game 0-6 overall and are coming off a pair of losses at the Southwestern Assemblies of God Classic in Waxahachie, Texas. Central Baptist fell 71-46 to LSU-Shreveport and 60-53 to Southwestern Assemblies of God.

6.     Harding holds an 8-0 lead in the all-time series with Central Baptist. Last season, the Lady Bisons defeated the Lady Mustangs 88-46 on Nov. 23.

7.     Harding is 18-9 all-time in season openers since 1983. Last season, Harding lost its season opener 69-58 to Midwestern State.

8.     Harding has not started a season at home since 2005, when the Lady Bisons defeated Lyon 91-76.

9.     Harding junior Sierra Rollins enters the season ranked fifth in Lady Bison history in offensive rebounds per game (2.0) and sixth in steals per game (1.7).

10.   Harding's next action is against Lambuth on Thursday, Nov. 18 at the Rhodes Field House.
