JACKSON
, Tenn. – The Harding baseball squad battled back from a six-run deficit after seven innings to snap a five-game losing streak and defeat Lambuth 10-9 on Sunday at Lambuth Field. The teams played a single, nine-inning game instead of the scheduled doubleheader.

Harding (3-10), which won for the first time on the road, trailed 9-3 before posting seven runs in the top of the eighth. It was the Bisons' most productive inning of the season and the first time Harding won this season when trailing after six innings.

Harding sent 13 batters to the plate in the seventh. Heath Boyd, Clay West and Marc McRae each drove in a pair of runs in the inning. The game-winning run scored when West walked with the bases loaded.

Sophomore Daniel Niehls (1-0) picked up the win on the mound for Harding. Niehls pitched a scoreless seventh inning, striking out two. Sophomore Kyle Cline pitched the final two innings to earn his first save of the season.

Harding set season highs with 13 hits and five doubles. Sophomore Chase Presley led off the game with his first home run of the season, and Paul Anzalone had a team-high three hits. Nine of the Bisons' hits came with runners on base.

Jason Nappi doubled in the eighth inning to extend his team-best hitting streak to six games. Anthony Guglielmi doubled twice and drove in two runs.

Harding starter Hayden Shirley went 3 2/3 innings and allowed five earned runs on six hits. Lambuth starter Michael Panthofer allowed seven runs in seven innings despite striking out 10 Bison hitters.

Harding is back at home Tuesday for a doubleheader against Drury.
