ADA, Okla. – For the second-straight game it took the Harding women's soccer team extra time to get the result as they defeated East Central 2-1 in the second overtime Friday in Great American Conference action. The Lady Bisons improved to 2-3 overall and 1-0 in the GAC.

Harding got on the board first in the 32nd minute when senior Lauren Scharf took it herself, dribbling half way down the field before finding the net for her second-straight game. Scharf scored her first goal of the season Tuesday in a 4-3 overtime win at Lyon.

After trailing 1-0 at halftime, East Central (0-6-1, 0-1 GAC) got their equalizer in the 72nd minute when a free kick by Carla Rodriguez found Taylor Graves for her first goal of the season.

The Lady Bisons defense held off the final push by the Lady Tigers. ECU took four shots in the final five minutes of regulation but only one was on frame.

East Central had the only opportunity to score in the first overtime as a shot by Katelyn Harper was saved by HU goalkeeper Danielle Nonaka.

Harding's game winner came in the second minute of second overtime as junior forward Jenna Taylor found junior midfielder Ashley Royce who made a run in from the right side of the box. Royce hit the far corner of the net for her first career game-winning goal.

Sophomore goalkeeper Danielle Nonaka tied her career high with 12 saves in the game. It was the third-straight game Nonaka has had 12 saves (Lyon and Northeastern State).

It was Harding's first conference win since joining the GAC last season. The Lady Bisons struggled last season with a 0-6 conference record.

The Lady Bisons will continue GAC action on Sunday as they travel to Bethany, Okla., to face Southern Nazarene. Kick-off is at 2 p.m.
