Box Score HAYS, Kan. – Harding freshman Adam Borsheim scored his first collegiate goal in the 70th minute but the Bisons fell 2-1 to 15th-ranked Fort Hays State on Saturday in Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association play.

Harding fell to 3-4-0 with the loss and dropped to 1-2-0 in conference. The game was the final game of four straight on the road for the Bisons. Harding returns to Searcy on Tuesday for a non-conference game against Central Baptist.

After a scoreless first half, Fort Hays State went ahead 1-0 on a header in the 49th minute by Carlos Linares. Tiger forward Michael Cole made it 2-0 in the 64th minute with his fourth goal of the season.

Borsheim answered just over six minutes later after corralling a loose ball in front of goal and beating Fort Hays State goalkeeper Ryan Pakieser. Borsheim became the eighth different Harding player to score one of Harding's nine goals this season.

“We played better in the second half,” Harding head coach Odie Guzman said. “We played defensively in the first half and came out with more confidence after halftime.”

Harding had only two shots in the second half.

“We had several more scoring chances in the second half but were just not able to get good shots off,” Guzman said.
Harding goalkeeper Chase Keeney had six saves and faced 20 Fort Hays State shots.
