Harding Game Notes
SEARCY – The Harding men's basketball team returns to Rhodes Field House on Saturday as the co-leaders of the Great American Conference. The Bisons will host Arkansas-Monticello at 7:30 p.m. at the Rhodes Field House.
Harding (13-3, 6-2) has won six straight games overall, including five GAC games to join Southwestern Oklahoma at the top of the conference. The Bisons have also won their first nine home games this season for only the fourth time in program history and the first time since 2008-09.
A victory over Arkansas-Monticello would give Harding a winning streak of seven games or longer for only the fourth time in program history. The Bisons' last winning streak of seven games or more was in 2008 when Harding won a school-record nine straight games.
Harding extended its winning streak to six games Thursday with an 81-77 double overtime victory over Southern Arkansas in Magnolia. Junior guard Weston Jameson scored six of his season-high 13 points in the second overtime as Harding won a game in double overtime for the first time since 1998.
Arkansas-Monticello (9-5, 4-4) has also played well of late, winning its last two games and five of its last six. The Boll Weevils held off Arkansas Tech 56-49 on Thursday in Monticello. Senior guard Kori Forge led UAM with 19 points, and the Weevils won despite missing 17 of 20 3-point attempts.
Arkansas-Monticello leads the all-time series 58-53 overall, but Harding has won 35 of 54 meetings in Searcy, including the last three and five of the last six.
The teams met three times last season. Harding won 74-66 in Searcy, Arkansas-Monticello won 80-73 in Monticello, and the Boll Weevils ended the Bisons' season 58-54 in the quarterfinals of the GAC Tournament in Bartlesville, Okla.
Saturday's game will air live in Searcy on KVHU-95.3 FM with Billy Morgan and Scott Goode on the call. Live audio, video and statistics will be available on HardingSports.com.
