Harding Game Notes
SEARCY – Harding men's basketball hosts Northwestern Oklahoma State on Saturday at 4 p.m. at Rhodes Field House in search of its eighth straight home victory.
Harding moved to 9-3 overall and evened its Great American Conference record at 2-2 with its 76-54 victory over Southwestern Oklahoma on Thursday. Freshman Tony Cochran made five 3-pointers and led the Bisons with 20 points. It was his third game this season with 20 or more points and his fifth game with four or more 3-pointers.
Northwestern Oklahoma is a provisional member of the GAC and is ineligible for the conference tournament this season. The Rangers are coming off a 78-58 loss at Arkansas Tech on Thursday. Tech shot 62 percent and limited Northwestern Oklahoma to 32 percent. Senior Jonathan Freemyer led the Rangers with 16 points. Freemyer leads the team in scoring at 16.9 points per game.
Saturday's game will be the first meeting between the two teams. Harding and Northwestern Oklahoma meet in Alva, Okla., on Feb. 7.
Harding has started the season with seven straight home victories for only the fifth time in program history. The Bisons last started a season with eight consecutive wins 2008-09 when they won nine straight.
Harding has also had success at home against Oklahoma opponents in GAC action. The Bisons have won all five home games against Oklahoma teams in the conference's two seasons.
