Harding Game Notes
MONTICELLO, Ark. – Harding men's basketball needed overtime Thursday night to snap a four-game losing streak and earn a 93-87 victory over Southern Arkansas at Rhodes Field House. The Bisons will look to continue their winning ways Saturday on the road at Arkansas-Monticello. Tipoff at Steelman Fieldhouse is at 4 p.m.
Harding (18-7, 11-6) moved into a tie with Arkansas Tech for first place in the Great American Conference standings with the victory over Southern Arkansas. The Bisons made 19 more free throws than the Muleriders and connected on 12 3-pointers. Hayden Johnson made 13-of-15 free throws and led Harding with 20 points.
Arkansas-Monticello (15-8, 10-7) is only one game behind Harding and Arkansas Tech and making a push for the conference championship with a four-game winning streak. UAM defeated Tech 51-50 on Thursday night in Russellville, using nine 3-pointers to overcome 4-of-10 shooting at the free throw line.
Harding defeated Arkansas-Monticello 57-50 in the first meeting between the teams despite scoring only 10 points in the first half. The Bisons then shot 13-of-17 from the field, 4-of-5 from 3-point range and 17-of-19 from the free throw line to outscore the Weevils 47-27 in the second half. Zach Roddenberry led Harding with 22 points, including 17 straight at one point of the second half, and Weston Jameson scored 19 points.
Dayton Mickens and Kori Forge led Arkansas-Monticello with 11 points each.
