HU Men's Basketball Reaches Fourth NCAA Tournament

Harding is the No. 5 seed in the Central Region and plays Saturday in Minnesota

SEARCY – The Harding men's basketball team earned its fourth NCAA Division II National Tournament berth Sunday as the NCAA selection committee announced that the Bisons are the No. 5 seed in the Central Region.

Harding (21-9) will meet Central Missouri on Saturday at 7:30 p.m., in Mankato, Minn. The game will be broadcast live in Searcy on KVHU 95.3-FM with Billy Morgan and Scott Goode on the call.

The NCAA Central Region is made up of teams from the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC), Great American Conference (GAC) and the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA).

As the #1 seed, hosts Minnesota State will take on Arkansas Tech (GAC) which stands 18-11, in the opening round Saturday at 5 p.m. Second seed Winona State (NSIC) squares off with seventh-seeded Northeastern State (MIAA) at 2:30 p.m. Third seed Augustana (NSIC) will take on sixth seed Upper Iowa (NSIC) at 12 p.m.  

Tickets for the regional are $15 for reserved seats, $10 for adults and $5 for senior citizens, children (ages 5-17) and college students with valid student IDs. Tickets can be purchased online at msumavericktickets.com beginning Monday, at 12 p.m. Tickets will not be mailed but fans have the option of printing their own tickets online or they will be available for pick-up at the MSU Athletics Office between the hours of 8 a.m., and 4 p.m. Tickets that are not picked up can be claimed at Taylor Center Will Call on the day of the game. Online ticket availability closes at 9 p.m., the day prior to each session.

Central Missouri, located in Warrensburg, enters the tournament with a 22-7 record. The Mules were both the MIAA regular season and tournament champions.

Harding and Central Missouri have never met in men's basketball.
