CANYON, Texas – Chontiquah White hit a layup with five seconds remaining to give the 8th-ranked West Texas A&M a 67-65 win over the 8th-ranked Harding women's basketball team on Saturday in the Pak-A-Sak Thanksgiving Classic. The Lady Bisons fell to 4-2 on the season.
The two teams entered the game tied at No. 8 in the ABCA Coaches Poll.
Harding had a chance to tie the game in the final seconds but a layup didn't fall.
Senior forward Montana Lewis led Harding with 15 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for her first double-double of the season. Sophomore guard A'ndrea Haney hit two 3-pointers and finished with 11 points. Redshirt freshman Mackenzie McNamara came off the bench and added 10 points for the Lady Bisons.
White led the Lady Buffs (4-1) with 19 points, hitting 8-of-13 shots.
West Texas A&M scored 40 of its 67 points in the paint and shot 47 percent for the game (25-of-53).
Harding only made 14 of its 25 free throws (56 percent).
Senior forward Arielle Saunders was named to the Pak-A-Sak Thanksgiving Classic All-Tournament Team.
Harding will continue Great American Conference action on Thursday as it travels to Magnolia to face Southern Arkansas at 5:30 p.m.
