No. 20 Harding Defeats Southern Arkansas on Thursday

MAGNOLIA, Ark. – Freshman guard Lundon Williams made 4 3-pointers and finished with a game-high 16 points to lead the 20th-ranked Harding women's basketball team to a 74-53 Great American Conference victory on Thursday. The Lady Bisons improved to 5-2 on the season and 2-0 in the GAC.

Senior forward Arielle Saunders captured her fifth double-double of the season with 11 points and 13 rebounds. Senior guard Montana Lewis added 12 points and sophomore forward Correy Moyer had 10 points.

The win marked the 11th straight conference win for Harding dating back to last season.

After a 38-23 lead at the half, Harding came out of the break and shot 74 percent in the second half as they made 14-of-19 shots, including six 3-pointers.

Southern Arkansas (3-4, 1-2 GAC) was held to shooting 33.9 percent from the field in the game making only 20-of-59 shots. The Lady Bisons defense held the Lady Muleriders to only making one of their first 16 shots.

Southern Arkansas was led by Tierra Tucker who had 14 points. Barvion Wyatt came off the bench for the Lady Muleriders and added 10 points.

Southern Arkansas forced Harding to a season-high 29 turnovers but the Lady Bisons only allowed them to score 17 points.

Sophomore guard A'ndrea Haney had a career-high nine assists and three steals for Harding.

The win marked the 11th straight conference win for Harding that dates back to last season.

Harding will play its fourth straight game away from the Rhodes Field House on Saturday as they travel to Arkansas-Monticello for a 2 p.m., tip-off.
