SEARCY - Senior guard Montana Lewis scored 19 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead the 25th-ranked Harding women's basketball team to a 73-57 Great American Conference win on Thursday. The Lady Bisons improved to 8-2 overall and 5-0 in the GAC.
Lewis captured her second double-double of the season and grabbed a game-high four offensive rebounds.
Sophomore forward Correy Moyer hit a career-high three 3-pointers and finished with 14 points. Senior forward Arielle Saunders had nine points and nine rebounds for Harding.
Northwestern Oklahoma (2-7, 1-3 GAC) was led by sophomore guard Jonae Isaac who had 15 points hitting 5-of-8 from the field and 4-of-4 from the free throw line. Freshman guard Kalea King added 13 points for the Rangers.
Harding trailed for the first 13 minutes of the game until it went on an 11-0 run to lead 33-26 with 2:11 left in the first half. The Lady Bisons led 34-28 at halftime.
Northwestern Oklahoma hit two free throws to open the second half to pull within four 34-30. It was the closest they got the rest of the way as Harding led by as much as 18 in the second half.
After shooting 33.3 percent in the first half (8-of-24), Harding shot 55.6 percent in the second half making 15-of-27 shots. Lewis made 6-of-8 buckets in the second half.
The Lady Bisons forced 19 Ranger turnovers and turned them into 16 points. Lewis had a team-high five steals in the game. Sophomore guard A'ndrea Haney had three steals and four assists for Harding.
The Lady Bisons will have two weeks off before traveling to Memphis, Tennessee to face Christian Brothers on Dec. 31st, in non-conference action. Tip-off is set for 1 p.m.
