POTTSBORO, Texas – Harding sophomore Alex Williamson was one of three golfers at the weather-shortened Texoma Chevy Dealers Crawford-Wade Invitational to shoot 1-under 71 and tie for the individual medalist honors Tuesday.
It was the first collegiate victory for Williamson, a native of Jacksonville, Fla., and the 14th-ranked player in the NCAA Division II Central Region by Golfstat.com. It was also Williamson's fourth round of par or better this season and the fifth of his career.
The two other golfers that shot 71 were Kason Childress of host Texas A&M-Commerce and Jay Cox of Texas A&M-Commerce's junior varsity team.
Harding's team, ranked No. 10 in the Central Region, finished fourth of the 10 teams in competition with a 16-over 304. In relation to par, it was the Bisons' sixth-best round of the season.
Senior Lucas Collins was Harding's next-highest finisher. He tied for 15th at 5-over 77. Senior Jordan Perry and senior Kyle Evans tied for 22nd (+6, 78) and junior Nathan Kannenberg tied for 41st (+11, 83).
Texas A&M-Commerce and Western Texas Community College tied for the team championship at 10-over 298.
Harding's next men's golf action is Mar. 24-25 at the Jim Bishop Toyota Classic, hosted by the University of North Alabama in Muscle Shoals.
