Harding Men's Soccer Ties at Ouachita; Earns No. 3 Seed at GAC Tournament

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Harding men's soccer and Ouachita tied 1-1 in double overtime Tuesday in the final game of the Great American Conference season for both teams.

Ouachita had already clinched the GAC regular-season championship and finished with a 4-1-1 conference record. The Tigers will host the GAC Tournament on Nov. 6 and 8.

Harding will be the No. 3 seed in the tournament with a 2-3-1 conference record and will play No. 2 seed Oklahoma Baptist (3-3-0).

Ouachita's Tinashe Chigede gave the Tigers a 1-0 lead in the 52nd minute, but Harding's Jason Diaz scored his second goal of the season to pull the Bisons even with six minutes left in the game. Josiah Ireland and Jackson Buchanan provided assists.

Harding sophomore goalkeeper Thomas Shults tied his career high with nine saves.

It was the fourth tie between the teams in 12 meetings in Arkadelphia.

Junior Jackson Buchanan had his school-record six-game scoring streak snapped.

Harding will conclude the regular season with a non-conference game Friday at Williams Baptist in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas.
