Ouachita Scores Late in Overtime to Outlast Harding Men's Soccer

SEARCY – Ouachita's Tinashe Chigede collected a loose ball at the top of the 18-yard box and scored with 56 seconds remaining in the second overtime period to give the Tigers a 2-1 victory over Harding men's soccer on Tuesday in Great American Conference action at Stevens Field.

RECORDS
Harding fell to 2-8-1 overall and 1-2-0 in GAC games. Ouachita improved to 3-7-0 overall and 2-1-0 in the GAC. The Bisons are tied for third in the GAC standings with three points.

GOALS
Ouachita 1
, Harding 0 – 20th minute – Ryan Trayner recovered Sewell Yost's misfired shot at the top of the box and scored inside the left post for his second goal of the season.
Harding 1, Ouachita 1 – 55th minute – Jackson Buchanan looped a shot from outside the box over the outstretched hands of the goalkeeper for an unassisted goal, his second of the season.
Ouachita 2, Harding 1 – 110th minute – A failed clearance by the Harding defense led to Tinashe Chigede's game-winning goal, his team-leading fourth goal of the season.

TEAM STATS
Harding has played three overtime games this season. All three went into double overtime, and Bisons have a 1-1-1 record in those games.

Harding had five players play all 109 minutes: goalkeeper Thomas Shults, Jason Diaz, Aaron Craig, Jeremy Rector and Phillip White.

The teams combined for 11 shots in the first half. Both teams had 11 shots in the second half.
 
INDIVIDUAL STATS
Jason Diaz led Harding with six shots, including two on goal.

Jackson Buchanan's goal was the fourth of his career. He became the fourth Harding player with multiple goals this season.

Nelson Pacheco made seven saves for Ouachita, earning his first victory in goal this season.

UP NEXT
Harding hosts Southwest Baptist in non-conference action Saturday at 2 p.m. The Bisons beat the Bearcats 3-2 on Sept. 17 in the first meeting between the two teams. Harding returns to GAC action on Oct. 15 at Oklahoma Baptist in Shawnee.
