Early Run Sends Harding Men's Basketball to Victory at Northwestern Oklahoma

ALVA, Okla. – Harding senior Andraz Kavas scored 24 points and added 10 rebounds to lead the Bisons to an 82-63 victory over Northwestern Oklahoma on Thursday in both teams' Great American Conference opener at Percefull Fieldhouse.

Junior Stefan Andelkovic started for the first time in Harding's three games and scored 17 points. Will Francis scored a season-high 17 points, and Jacob Gibson scored 10.

Harding took control of the game early. The Bisons used an 18-3 run that started on a Kavas jumper with 15:04 left in the first half. Kavas scored eight points during the run, and an Andelkovic three-point play at the 9:25 mark gave Harding a 23-7 lead, it largest of the first half.

Harding led 42-29 at halftime and built its lead to as many as 24 at 61-37 with 12:14 left in the game.

RECORDS
Harding improved to 1-2 overall and 1-0 in the GAC. The Bisons won for the second time in four games in Alva. Northwestern Oklahoma fell to 0-3 overall and 0-1 in the GAC.

FIRST-HALF HIGHLIGHTS
Kavas scored 16 of his team-high 24 points in the first half.

Harding shot 57 percent in the first half and limited Northwestern Oklahoma 39 percent.

Northwestern's Adrian Motley scored 19 of his team's 29 points in the half. He shot 8 of 14, while the rest of the team shot only 4 of 17.

SECOND-HALF HIGHLIGHTS
Jacob Gibson scored all 10 of his points in the second half, and Will Francis scored 10 of his 17.

Harding shot 50 percent in the half and limited Northwestern to 33 percent.

TEAM STATS
Harding had four players score 10 or more points for the first time this season.

INDIVIDUAL STATS
Andraz Kavas has scored 20 or more points in all three games this season and has 20 20-point games in his career.

Kavas has 980 points in his career and needs 20 more to become the 35th Harding player with 1,000 or more career points.
