Southwestern Oklahoma Holds Off Harding Men's Basketball

WEATHERFORD, Okla. – Harding trimmed Southwestern Oklahoma's 11-point, second-half lead down to two points with less than a minute left, but the Bulldogs held off the Bisons 81-76 Saturday in Great American Conference action at the Pioneer Cellular Event Center.

Harding defeated Northwestern Oklahoma 82-63 on Thursday and was attempting to sweep the western Oklahoma road trip for the first time in four seasons.

Southwestern won its third straight game, all at home, and improved to 3-1 overall and 2-0 in the GAC. Harding dropped to 1-3 overall and 1-1 in conference.

The game was tied 38-38, but Southwestern scored the first seven points of the second half and never trailed again.

Harding's Blake McNair made a free throw at the 12:44 mark to tie the game again at 55-55. Southwestern scored the next five points, and Harding never got it even again.

INDIVIDUAL NOTES
Andraz Kavas scored 16 points in the first half and led Harding with 24 points, and Blake McNair scored a season-high 22 points. It is the first time this season Harding has had two players with 20 or more points in the same game. McNair made five 3-pointers, the most by a Harding player this season.

Stefan Andelkovic had 11 points, hitting three 3-pointers, Will Francis scored 10.

Kavas made a 3-pointer with 17:44 left in the game to become the 35th Bison to surpass 1,000 career points.

Southwestern Oklahoma also had two players with more than 20 points. Martell Collins scored 24 and Emeche Wells had 21.

TEAM NOTES
Harding made a season-high 12 3-pointers in the game. Southwestern made eight 3-pointers, but outscored Harding 17-12 at the free-throw line.

Harding shot 43 percent from the field and has shot over 40 percent in all four games this season.

NEXT UP
Harding plays a non-conference game Tuesday at 7 p.m. against Christian Brothers in Memphis, Tennessee.
