ALVA, Okla. – The Harding women's basketball team opened Great American Conference play on Thursday with a 64-42 win at Northwestern Oklahoma at Percefull Field House.
Harding sophomore Lundon Williams led the Lady Bisons with 13 points, making 5-of-11 from the field. Sophomore Falan Miller had 11 points with two 3-pointers and sophomore Sydney Layrock had 10 points. Freshman center Sydnie Jones led Harding on the boards with 10 and she also had four blocks.
Kaci Hansen led Northwestern Oklahoma with 12 points, making 5-of-6 from the field. She also grabbed seven boards for the Rangers.
RECORDS
Harding captured its first win of the season and improves to 1-1 overall and 1-0 in the GAC. Northwestern Oklahoma falls to 0-3 overall and 0-1 in the GAC.
FIRST QUARTER HIGHLIGHTS
Harding led 20-10 after the first quarter. The Lady Bisons hit four 3-pointers and shot 50 percent from the field in the quarter. Falan Miller led Harding with six points.
SECOND QUARTER HIGHLIGHTS
The Lady Bisons led 32-14 at halftime. Harding held Northwestern Oklahoma scoreless for 9:22 of the 10 minute quarter. The Rangers also had nine turnovers in the quarter.
THIRD QUARTER HIGHLIGHTS
The Lady Bisons led 49-32 after the end of the third quarter. Harding's Sydney Layrock made 4-of-4 from the field in the quarter. Northwestern Oklahoma outscored Harding 18-17.
FOURTH QUARTER HIGHLIGHTS
Harding scored 15 points in the fourth quarter and held the Rangers to 10. The Lady Bisons forced four turnovers and turned them into six points. Harding went 5-of-11 from the field and 5-of-5 from the free throw line.
TEAM STATS
Harding shot 45 percent from the field, making 23-of-51 shots. The Lady Bisons made four 3-pointers and were 14-of-19 from the free throw line.
Northwestern Oklahoma shot 29 percent from the field as they only made 16 buckets. The Rangers were 3-of-18 from behind the arc and 7-of-12 from the free throw line.
INDIVIDUAL STATS
It was the third time in her career Lundon Williams has led Harding in scoring.
Junior guard A'ndrea Haney and Williams each had five assists for the Lady Bisons.

Harding will continue GAC action at Southwestern Oklahoma on Saturday. Tip-off is set for 1 p.m.
