Harding Women's Basketball Collects 63-55 Victory at Christian Brothers

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Harding sophomore Lundon Williams scored a career-high 22 points, including 17 in the first quarter, to lead the Lady Bisons to a 63-55 victory over Christian Brothers on Wednesday afternoon at Canale Arena. It was the final non-conference game of the season for Harding, who improved to 6-2 in defeating Christian Brothers (4-6) for the 13th straight time.

Williams made all five of her 3-point attempts in the first quarter, and Harding led 21-8. The Lady Bisons pushed their lead to 40-23 at halftime, but had to weather several Buc rallies in the fourth quarter to hang on. It was career victory No. 199 for Harding head coach Tim Kirby.

Williams had a steal and a layup to give Harding a 54-47 lead with 5:22 left in the game. Christian Brothers answered with 3-pointers on consecutive possessions from unlikely sources. Madison Luckett had missed her first seven shots of the game before hitting a 3-pointer from the right wing. On Christian Brothers' next trip, Samantha Reeves, who had missed 24 of her 25 3-point attempts this season, hit one from the left wing to cut Harding's lead to 54-53 with 3:22 left.

The Lady Bisons answered with two Correy Moyer free throws and another layup from Williams to pull out to a 58-53 advantage. The Lady Bisons led by at least three points the rest of the way.

TEAM STATS
Harding held a 42-31 rebound advantage and outscored Christian Brothers 17-9 on second-chance points.

Harding had 12 steals, its second-highest total of the season. A'ndrea Haney had four, and Lundon Williams had three.

Both teams shot below 40 percent. Harding shot 35.6 percent, and Christian Brothers shot 33.3 percent.

Harding led for all but the first 13 seconds of the game.

Christian Brothers made all 10 of its free throws in the second half.

INDIVIDUAL STATS
The 22-point effort was William's first 20-point game of her career. She had twice scored 19. It was the fourth time in her career that she made five 3-pointers. Williams also had a career-high three blocked shots.

Sydney Layrock had 11 points and six rebounds, and Correy Moyer had 10 points and a team-high seven rebounds.

Samantha Reeves led Christian Brothers with 19 points.
