ADA, Okla. – East Central held the Harding women's basketball team to shooting 32.7 percent from the field as the Tigers defeated the Lady Bisons 61-50 in Great American Conference action on Friday. It was Harding's first conference loss of the season.
Sophomore guard Lundon Williams led Harding with 16 points. Sophomore forward Sydney Layrock had 15 points and junior guard A'ndrea Haney made 6-of-6 free throws to finish with eight points. Mackenzie McNamara led Harding on the boards with eight rebounds.
East Central was led by Alexa Adair who had 15 points. Aalyiah Blakely made two 3-pointers and finished with 14 points.
RECORDS
Harding falls to 6-3 overall and 4-1 in the GAC. East Central improves to 2-7 overall and 2-3 in the GAC.
FIRST QUARTER HIGHLIGHTS
East Central lead 15-6 after the end of the first quarter. Alexa Adair made six of her 15 points in the quarter for the Tigers. East Central held Harding to shooting 0-for-4 from behind the 3-point line.
SECOND QUARTER HIGHLIGHTS
East Central led 34-21 at the half. Harding made three 3-pointers in the quarter and Sydney Layrock made six of her 15 points.
THIRD QUARTER HIGHLIGHTS
East Central led 45-35 after the end of the third quarter. Harding outscored the Tigers 14-11 in the quarter as it made 4-of-5 free throws and two 3-pointers.
FOURTH QUARTER HIGHLIGHTS
Harding battled back but fell short as East Central outscored the Lady Bisons 16-15. The Tigers converted 9-of-12 free throws down the stretch. East Central held Harding to 0-for-8 from behind the 3-point line and Lady Bisons went 6-of-19 from the field.
TEAM STATS
Harding's field goal percentage was a season-low in GAC games this season. The Lady Bisons have shot over 35 percent from the field in every GAC game before Thursday. Harding went 17-for-52 from the field and 5-of-25 from behind the 3-point line.
East Central shot 45.1 percent, making 23 buckets and six 3-pointers.
Harding grabbed a season-low 28 rebounds in the game. It was the first time since last season, the Lady Bisons haven't grabbed at least 30 rebounds in a game. Harding had a season-low 29 rebounds at Arkansas Tech last season.
East Central held Harding to six points at the end of the first quarter. It was the fewest amount of points the Lady Bisons have scored in a quarter this season.
Harding played seven players in the game and four players played over 33 minutes for the Lady Bisons.
INDIVIDUAL STATS
A'ndrea Haney tied a season-high with five steals in the game. She had as many at Southwestern Oklahoma earlier this season.
