Harding Baseball Sweeps Northwestern Oklahoma, 13-1 and 9-1

ALVA, Okla. – Harding received a pair of complete games from its starting pitchers and ran its Great American Conference winning streak to six games Friday with a doubleheader sweep of Northwestern Oklahoma at Myers Stadium. The Bisons won the opener 13-1 and game two 9-1.

Harding and Northwestern will conclude the series Saturday with a single game at noon.

With the sweep, Harding (22-18) moved into second place in the GAC with a 13-7 record. The Bisons are only percentage points behind Ouachita Baptist for first place. Northwestern Oklahoma dropped to 16-22 overall and 8-15 in conference games.

Leading 4-1 in the opener, Harding blew the game wide open with five runs in the sixth inning. The first five Bisons reached base in the inning, and Davis Richardson had a two-run single with the bases loaded.

Harrison Hunter added an RBI triple in the seventh to give Harding a 10-1 lead in the seventh. John Chapman had a two-run single in the eighth as part of a three-run inning. The game ended after eight innings due to the NCAA's mercy rule.

Five Harding hitters had two-hit games and five players who scored two runs. Richardson led Harding with three RBIs.

Junior Andrew Fiddler (5-2) had his third straight outstanding start on the mound. He allowed only one earned run over eight innings with four strikeouts. In his last three games, Fiddler is 2-0 with a 0.41 ERA. He has allowed only one run in 22 innings.

The solid starting pitching continued in game two with Collin Campbell (5-2) taking over where Fiddler left off. Campbell allowed one unearned run on four hits and struck out a career-high 10 with no walks.

Harding's offense kept it up as well, scoring multiple runs in three innings. The Bisons took a 2-0 lead in the third on RBIs from Hunter and Noah Chandler. Shane Kinnear's two-run double in the fifth was part of a three-run inning, and Harding tacked on four more in the seventh. Kinnear, who was 3 for 4 with two runs and a career-high four RBIs, again provided the key hit, a two-run single to right.

Chandler was 4 for 7 in the doubleheader and is now 11 for 18 (.611) in his career against Northwestern Oklahoma. Kinnear and Kyler Offenbacker had hits in both games and extended their team-best hitting streaks to 10 games.
