ALVA, Okla. – Harding had 17 hits and scored in seven different innings to complete its three-game Great American Conference sweep of Northwestern Oklahoma on Saturday at Myers Field. The Bisons had three three-run innings and won 13-6. Harding won 13-1 and 9-1 on Friday.
With the victory, Harding (23-18) remained in second place in the GAC with a 14-7 record. The Bisons' .667 conference winning percentage trails only Ouachita Baptist's .688 percentage.
Junior Zac Stewart went 3 for 4 with three runs, four RBIs, two doubles and a triple. Davis Richardson also had three hits, including a triple, scored twice and drove in two.
All nine Harding starters had at least one hit and six players had multi-hit games.
Junior Jacob Stripling (5-3) won his fourth straight start, allowing four earned runs on 11 hits with five strikeouts. Junior Hunter Payne pitched 2 1/3 innings and had two strikeouts, and Stewart closed out the game with a scoreless ninth.
Northwestern had 16 hits but left 10 runners on base. Ranger starter Christian Lafontan (1-3) gave up eight earned runs on eight hits in 5 1/3 innings in taking the loss.
With the score tied at 1-1, Harding junior Jaxon Mohr led off the top of the second with a solo home run that put the Bisons ahead for good. Stewart's two-run double in the second gave Harding a 4-1 lead.
Harding also had three-run innings in the sixth and seventh. Freshman Zach Beasley's two-run double highlighted the seventh.
The Bisons will play one non-conference game Tuesday at Arkansas-Monticello before returning to Searcy next weekend to host Southwestern Oklahoma in its final GAC conference series.
