Foster Scores Golden Goal to Lift Harding Men's Soccer over Southwest Baptist

BOLIVAR, Mo. – Junior forward Barry Foster registered his first career two-goal game and gave Harding its first victory of the season with a golden goal in the third minute of double overtime. The Bisons defeated Southwest Baptist 3-2 for its fourth straight victory over the Bearcats.

After a scoreless first half, the teams combined for three goals in a three-and-a-half minute stretch of the second half. Garrett Gibson's second goal of the game for Southwest Baptist in the 83rd minute sent the game to overtime.

RECORDS
Harding improved to 1-3-1 overall and 1-2-0 on the road. Each of the Bisons' last two road victories came at Southwest Baptist. The Bearcats fell to 0-6-0 this season.

GOALS
Southwest Baptist 1, Harding 0 – 63rd minute – Garrett Gibson scored for the fourth consecutive game on an assist from Dylan Saib.
Harding 1, Southwest Baptist 1 – 80th minute – Barry Foster scored his second goal of the season to tie the game.
Harding 2, Southwest Baptist 1 – 82nd minute – Josiah Ireland gave the Bisons the lead with his first goal of the season.
Southwest Baptist 2, Harding 2 – 83rd minute – Gibson scored again to tie the game. Saib had his second assist.
Harding 3, Southwest Baptist 2 – 103rd minute – Barry Foster scored his third goal of the season to give the Bisons the victory.

Harding three road goals were its first of the season and the most since scoring six at Southwest Baptist last season.

Harding played its second overtime game of the season. The Bisons tied Dallas Baptist 1-1 to open the season. Thursday's victory was Harding's fourth in 17 road games that have gone to overtime in program history. Harding's last overtime road win was a 2-1 victory at Ouachita in 2007.

INDIVIDUAL STATS
Barry Foster is Harding's active leader with eight goals. His game-winning goal Thursday was the second of his career.

Southwest Baptist's Garrett Gibson has now scored five of the Bearcats' eight goals this season.

Harding sophomore Tyler Melson made five saves and earned his third career victory at goalkeeper.

UP NEXT
Harding hosts 13th-ranked Christian Brothers on Saturday at 4 p.m. The Bisons will be seeking their first-ever victory over a nationally-ranked team.
