DENTON, Texas – The Harding volleyball team fell 3-2 against Texas A&M-Commerce and 3-1 to Texas Woman's on Friday to open the 2015 campaign at the Hilton Garden Inn Classic.

TEXAS A&M-COMMERCE MATCH RECAP
Harding dropped the first two sets (25-19 and 25-23) but won the next two (25-16 and 25-19) to force a fifth set. The Lady Bisons went up 13-12 on a Lions' attack error in the deciding set, but Texas A&M-Commerce scored the next three points on two kills and an attack error to win the set and the match 3-2.
HU-TAMU-C TEAM STATS
Harding had 58 kills and a better hitting percentage (.217-.201).
Texas A&M-Commerce had 62 kills and 28 attack errors.
Harding had 14 service aces, tied for the fifth-most in Lady Bison history and the most since recording 14 at Union (TN) in 2013.
HU-TAMU-C INDIVIDUAL STATS
Senior outside hitter Molly Howard led Harding with a career-high 20 kills and a career-high 18 digs. Junior middle blocker Sara Smith also recorded a career-high with 14 kills, and junior setter Abigail Glosup had a career-high 49 assists.
Smith also led Harding with a career-high five service aces. Glosup and Anna Leigh Cargile each had three.
Freshman outside hitter Layne Little had 21 kills and nine digs to lead Texas A&M-Commerce. Defensive specialist Ashley Mireles led the Lions' defensive with 22 digs.
TEXAS WOMAN'S MATCH RECAP
Harding took a 25-24 lead in the first set but gave up three straight points to fall 27-25. The Lady Bisons jumped out to a 10-5 lead in the second but gave up the next five points, three on attack errors. Texas Woman's used that momentum to take set two 25-22. Tied 8-8 in the third set, Harding went on an 11-4 and went onto to win 25-19. The Pioneers held the Lady Bisons to 15 points in the fourth as they won 25-15. Texas Woman's forced eight Harding attack errors in the set.
HU-TWU TEAM STATS
Harding had 52 kills in the match and 86 digs.
Texas Woman's had 64 kills and hit .244. They also had 59 assists and 91 digs.
HU-TWU INDIVIDUAL STATS
Senior outside hitter Molly Howard captured her second double-double of the season tying a career-high 20 kills and 15 digs. Junior setter, Abigail Glosup had 43 assists and 17 digs for her first double-double of the season.
Junior Sara Smith and freshman Zoe Hardin each had 10 kills for Harding.
Texas Woman's had five players in double-figure kills. The Pioneers were led by Hillary Shaffer who had 14 kills and hit .355.

Harding head coach Meredith Fear: "We had two hard fought matches. We are still figuring things out and learning how to play together but I think it only goes up from here."
