SEARCY – Six different Lady Bisons score in double-figures to lead to the Harding women's basketball team to an 82-50 Great American Conference win over Arkansas-Monticello on Thursday at the Rhodes-Reaves Field House.
Sophomore forward McKenzie McNamara came off the bench to lead Harding with 15 points. Sophomore forward Sydney Layrock and senior guard Kaylee Wiedower both finished with 14 points. Sophomore guard Falan Miller, junior guard A'ndrea Haney and sophomore guard Lundon Williams each had 12 points.
Harding held the second best scorer in NCAA Division II to only 11 points. Senior forward Jordan Goforth averaged 25.2 points heading into Thursday's contest.
RECORDS
Harding improves to 8-3 overall and 6-1 in the GAC. Arkansas-Monticello falls to 7-4 overall and 4-3 in the GAC.
FIRST QUARTER HIGHLIGHTS
Harding lead 18-11 after the first quarter. The Lady Bisons scored 16 of its points in the paint. Kaylee Wiedower and Mackenzie McNamara each had four points for Harding.
SECOND QUARTER HIGHLIGHTS
Harding led 39-25 at the break. The Lady Bisons shot 52.9 percent from the field and made three 3-pointers.
THIRD QUARTER HIGHLIGHTS
Harding continued to build on its momentum in the third quarter as it lead 59-37. The Lady Bisons outscored the Blossoms 20-12. Lundon Williams led Harding with six points, making two 3-pointers.
FOURTH QUARTER HIGHLIGHTS
Harding outscored Arkansas-Monticello 23-13 in the fourth quarter. A'ndrea Haney made 4-of-6 free throws and the Lady Bisons made five 3-pointers, led by Falan Miller who made two.
TEAM STATS
Harding shot a season-high 49.1 percent from the field in the game. The Lady Bisons made 28 buckets and 11 3-pointers. It was the second straight game Harding has shot over 47 percent. The Lady Bisons shot 47.1 percent in the 103-95 win over Southeastern Oklahoma on Saturday.
Arkansas-Monticello shot 34.0 percent, only making 18 field goals. The Blossoms went 2-of-9 from behind the 3-point line (22.2 percent) and made 12-of-27 free throws (44.4 percent).
Harding won the rebounding war, grabbing 40 rebounds to the Blossoms' 37. It was the second straight game the Lady Bisons have had over 40 rebounds and the eighth time this season. Seven different Harding players had four or more rebounds in the game.
INDIVIDUAL STATS
A'ndrea Haney scored her 700th career point in the game. She is the 30th Harding player ever to reach the milestone.
Haney, the GAC leader in steals, continued her stealing spree. She had four steals in the game for the sixth time this season.
