Hot Arkansas Tech Shooting Downs Lady Bison Basketball

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – No. 22 Arkansas Tech shot 53.6 percent from the field to defeat the Harding women's basketball team 80-52 in Great American Conference action at Tucker Coliseum on Monday. It was the Lady Bisons third game in five days.

The loss snapped a Harding three game winning streak.

Sophomore forward Sydney Layrock led the Lady Bisons with 19 points, making six baskets and six free throws. Freshman guard Chelsea Heidebrecht made a career-high three 3-pointers to finish with nine points.

Arkansas Tech was led by senior forward Fatima Adams who had 21 points, making 8-of-15 from the floor. Calli White made four 3-pointers and finished with 18 points for the Golden Suns.

RECORDS
Harding falls to 9-4 overall and 7-2 in the GAC. Arkansas Tech improves to 11-2 overall and 9-0 in the GAC.

FIRST QUARTER HIGHLIGHTS
Arkansas Tech led 18-12 after the first quarter. Harding's Chelsea Heidebrecht hit two of her 3-pointers in the quarter.

SECOND QUARTER HIGHLIGHTS
Harding trailed 35-16 at halftime. Arkansas Tech outscored the Lady Bisons 17-4. It was the fewest points this season Harding has scored in a quarter. It was also the fewest amount of points the Lady Bisons have scored in a half since scoring 13 against Arkansas Tech on Jan. 24, 2013.


THIRD QUARTER HIGHLIGHTS
Arkansas Tech led 62-34 after the end of the third quarter. The Golden Suns outscored Harding 27-18. Sydney Layrock scored eight points for the Lady Bisons, making 3-of-3 from the field.


FOURTH QUARTER HIGHLIGHTS
Harding and Arkansas Tech each scored 18 points in the fourth quarter. Syndey Layrock scored seven more of her points, including a 3-pointer. The Lady Bisons went 8-of-12 from the free throw line.


TEAM STATS
Harding shot a season-low 29.6 percent from the field. It was the first time since March of 2014 the Lady Bisons have shot below 30 percent.

Harding who averages 8.6 3-pointers per game, was held to six. The Lady Bisons went 6-of-21 from behind the 3-point line.

Arkansas Tech held Harding to a season-low 27 rebounds. The Golden Suns had 43 total rebounds and 11 offensive rebounds. Arkansas Tech scored 17 points off its offensive rebounds.

Harding will be back in action on Thursday when it travels to Magnolia, Arkansas to take on Southern Arkansas in GAC action at 5:30 p.m.
