Ouachita Scores Once in Each Half to Defeat Harding Men's Soccer

SEARCY – Ouachita Baptist scored a goal in each half to defeat the Harding men's soccer team 2-0 on Tuesday in Great American Conference action at Stevens Field.

The result leaves both teams tied for second place in the GAC standings at 1-2-0. It was the first loss in five home games for Harding (8-3-0) this season and the first time since the opening game of the season that the Bisons were shut out. Ouachita (5-5-0) snapped a four-game losing streak with the victory.

Logan Hampton gave Ouachita a 1-0 lead in the 15th minute, scoring his first goal of the season on a cross from Tinashe Chigede. The Bisons failed to clear a corner kick in the 52nd minute, and Joey Zerbo scored his second goal of the season to double the Tigers' lead.

Harding had twice as many shots as Ouachita, 14-7, but the Tigers had five shots on goal to the Bisons' four.

Harding is back in action in non-conference play on Thursday at Southwest Baptist in Bolivar, Missouri.
