SHAWNEE, Okla. – Harding junior Will Francis scored 21 points but the Bisons fell 86-78 to Oklahoma Baptist on Saturday at the Noble Complex.
Harding fell to 12-8 overall and 11-4 in the Great American Conference, dropping its second game of a four-game road trip. The Bisons are back in action Thursday at Arkansas-Monticello.
Oklahoma Baptist snapped a 10-game losing streak and improved to 6-13 overall and 2-13 in GAC games. The Bison are not eligible for the GAC Tournament as a provisional member of the conference.
Harding trailed 36-32 at halftime, but Oklahoma Baptist shot 54 percent in the second half and pulled out to an 18-point lead with 9:08 left. The Bisons closed to within five at 79-74 on two John Hudson free throws with 1:17 left. Oklahoma Baptist hit four straight free throws on its next two possessions to hold on to the lead.
Reggie Anthony scored 11 for Harding and Blake McNair added 10.
Harding made 13 3-pointers but was outscored 28-11 at the free-throw line. The Bisons were whistled for a season-high 27 fouls, and Jacob Roark and Jacob Gibson both fouled out.
Vladimir Nemcok led Okahoma Baptist with 23 points and made 13-of-14 free throws. Steven Green added 21 points, hitting 9-of-10 from the free-throw line.
