Oklahoma Baptist Baseball Defeats Harding 6-1

SEARCY – Oklahoma Baptist junior right-hander Jinny Parra allowed only one run on two hits and struck out 10 in a 6-1 Great American Conference victory over Harding on Friday at Jerry Moore Field. The teams will conclude the three-game series Saturday with a noon doubleheader.

Harding (8-9, 3-4) scored in the first inning to take a 1-0 lead. Zac Stewart, Harding's leading hitter, singled to lead off the bottom of the first, went to second on an error, to third on Grant Guest's sacrifice bunt and scored on a wild pitch.

Zac Beasley singled with two outs in the second inning for Harding's only other hit. Parra (4-1) did not allow another base runner until Davis Richardson walked to lead off the seventh.

Oklahoma Baptist (12-4, 4-3) tied the game on Ryan Joyce's solo home run in the fourth off Harding starter Andrew Fiddler (1-3). Oklahoma Baptist pushed the lead to 2-1 in the six, scoring an unearned run.

Fiddler entered the ninth inning trailing by only one and retired the first hitter. After consecutive singles, Jacob Stripling entered and walked the first batter he faced. Two batters later, Trevor Ezell hit a grand slam to put the game away.

Fiddler allowed four runs, three earned, over 8 1/3 innings.

It was the first time in eight games this season that Harding scored in the first inning and did not win.
