Six Straight: Harding Men's Soccer Posts Another Shutout, Defeats Hendrix 2-0

CONWAY, Ark. – Harding men's soccer used an overwhelming shot advantage, two second-half goals and a swarming defense to post a 2-0 shutout of NCAA Division III Hendrix on Sunday.

The victory extended Harding's school-record winning streak to six games, all shutouts. It is the first time Harding (6-1) has six shutouts in a season, breaking the previous school record. During the stretch, the Bisons have not allowed a goal in 540 minutes and opponents have been goalless on 49 shots.

In Sunday's game, Harding's defense was so effective that goalkeeper Michael Wasson did not even have to make a save in securing his fifth shutout of the season, breaking the previous school record of four shutouts by Michael Allen in 2003.

Harding had a season-high 32 shots, the most since a 34-shot effort against Williams Baptist in 2011.

Hendrix (2-4) had only four shots and none were on goal.

Despite the extreme shot advantage, Harding's first goal did not come until the 53rd minute. Freshman Braeden Grundy netted his second goal of the season on an assist from Oliver Callado, and in the 74th minute Austin McAlister's second goal of the season sealed the victory. His goal came on an assist from Christian Ramos.

Harding's next action is Thursday when the Bisons open Great American Conference action against Oklahoma Baptist in Shawnee, Oklahoma.
