Grundy's Overtime Goal Lifts Harding Men's Soccer over Oklahoma Baptist

SHAWNEE, Okla. – Both of the last two times Harding men's soccer has played Oklahoma Baptist, Harding has fallen behind only to come back and win in overtime. Same song, different verse Thursday, as Harding trailed and came back to win 2-1 in double overtime.

With the victory, Harding improved to 5-4-2 overall, remained undefeated at 4-0-0 in Great American Conference games, and clinched at least a tie for the regular season conference championship. With a win or a tie against Southern Nazarene Saturday, Harding could claim the title outright. Oklahoma Baptist fell to 4-6-1 overall and 2-2-0 in the GAC.

After a scoreless first half, Oklahoma Baptist took the lead on a goal by Luis Romero in the 54th minute.

Harding's Andre Cunha tied the game in the 73rd minute with his team-leading sixth goal of the season.

Harding had to play a man down throughout most of the overtime periods after Cunha received his second yellow card two minutes into the first overtime.

The game-winner came from Braeden Grundy eight minutes into the second overtime. He broke away and beat Oklahoma Baptist goalkeeper Thomas Ackerknecht one-on-one. It was his third goal of the season and first game-winning goal.

Harding junior goalkeeper Michael Wasson tied a career high with nine saves in the game.
