RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas Tech made 14 3-pointers, controlled the paint and took advantage of 17 Harding turnovers in a 78-59 victory over the Bisons on Monday in Great American Conference action at Tucker Coliseum.
Tech won its ninth straight game and improved to 18-4 overall and 14-4 in the GAC. Harding fell to 13-9 overall and 10-8 in the GAC. The Bisons dropped below Southern Nazarene in the standings and are now in fifth place.
Will Francis made his third 3-pointer of the half with 10:40 remaining to give Harding a 21-15 lead. The Bisons made only two field goals the rest of the half, a layup from Filip Medjo and a 3-pointer from Tim Wagner, as Arkansas Tech went on a 23-5 run to close the half. The Wonder Boys took a 38-26 lead into the break.
Montrell Williams scored 17 of his 19 points in the first half, connecting on 7-of-11 from the field. He made three of Tech's six first-half 3-pointers.
Tech, who averages 12.1 3-pointers, made eight more in the second half and led by as many as 26 with 4:48 left in the game.
Tech outscored Harding 20-8 in the paint and 22-0 off turnovers.
Wagner led Hading with 15 points, Francis added 14, and Medjo had 13.
Harding will be back at home for the final time this season Thursday when they host Henderson State on Senior Night. A postgame ceremony will honor Harding seniors Francis and Stefan Andelkovic.
